Stimulus for ACTFL 2009 Convention - Hotel Rates Reduced!
Guarantee Your Hotel Room
by Booking through ACTFL. The Deadline date is October 14!
ACTFL has been hard at work re-negotiating better hotel rates
for all our Convention attendees. Some
of the hotels in our block have revised their room rates.
Special note: these new hotel rates are retroactive. If you reserved your room several months ago, you will now
pay this new rate.
Here are the hotels with revised rates:

Suites San Diego Bay Hotel |
$179 single/double |
|
Hilton San Diego Bayfront |
$179 single/double |
|
Manchester Grand Hyatt |

Those planning to attend the ACTFL Annual Convention and World Languages Expo are advised to

Why it’s smart to utilize the ACTFL room block:
- Room rates offered for the ACTFL Convention are very competitive. We
encourage you to utilize ACTFL’s room block.
- Booking rooms outside
the block can hurt ACTFL financially. ACTFL sets aside room blocks in hotels
to guarantee that attendees will have a room available during the Convention.
Room blocks also guarantee to the host city that several thousand of their hotel
rooms will be booked. If ACTFL doesn’t fill its room block commitment,
there are severe financial penalties.
- Reduced room reservations give
ACTFL less bargaining power for future years and also increase the cost for the
rental of the convention center and meeting space at the headquarter hotel.
These penalties ultimately could be passed on to attendees through increased registration fees as well as room rates.
Benefits of reserving through ACTFL:
- Online discount
sites may charge your credit card for your entire stay as soon as you make your reservation.
- By making your reservation through ACTFL you are only required to give your
credit card as a guarantee and are not charged a deposit.
- You can make changes
and cancellations up to 72 hours prior to your arrival date without any financial
penalty. Some of the online discount sites are not so accommodating, charging
additional fees or charging for days you will no longer be staying at the hotel.
If you are uncertain about your arrival/departure date prior to the
October 14 housing deadline, we suggest you make reservations for the
dates you anticipate attending, knowing the reservation can be changed up to 72-hours
prior to arrival without any financial penalty. In addition, if there is
a problem with your room when you arrive in San Diego, we are better equipped
to help you. We are less able to help attendees with housing issues if they
did not book through the official housing block.
